Wafer Fabrication (Mature), OSAT, Regional Distribution Hub
Singapore hosts fabrication facilities from GlobalFoundries, Micron, STMicroelectronics, UMC, and ams-OSRAM, making it Southeast Asia's most sophisticated semiconductor manufacturing hub. GlobalFoundries Singapore is GF's flagship 200mm specialty foundry. Micron's Woodlands and Kim Chuan facilities handle DRAM and NAND packaging. Singapore is also a major wafer substrate and IC distribution transit point. Land and labor scarcity limit large greenfield expansion. The government's EDB provides substantial incentives for semiconductor R&D and manufacturing investment. Singapore's port and air cargo infrastructure makes it a transshipment monitoring focal point for controlled semiconductor goods.
Export control and sanctions
Non-Wassenaar but strong US alignment. Strategic Goods Control Act. Transshipment risk for controlled items. Major OSAT hub.
